About

I’m a nuclear specialist. A nuclear expert? A nuclear engineer. A nuclear scientist.
I have spent the majority of the last decade and my adult life learning about and developing nuclear science.
Most people don’t know anything about what I do. My friends are curious and I share things I’ve learnt with them often, when they ask. Which is a lot.
However, I am getting the feeling that there is a wider curious audience.
Although I am on my way to becoming a ‘nuclear expert,’ I do not claim to be one. However, I am lucky enough to have access to many of those in my life. For any questions I can’t answer or any facts to be checked, I draw on their immense collective knowledge. I want to speak colloquially about aspects of the nuclear world, because this is a space for casual discussions rather than a lecture studio or lab.
Nuclear science is one of the most important topics for our generation. It directly informs decisions about global warming, defence politics and the energy consumption crisis. If nuclear fusion is proved to be feasible, oil will no longer be king. More nuclear fission reactors are being built around the world than ever before, changing the energy landscape forever. There is a nuclear renaissance happening right now.
Very few people are aware of all this. This is a space to make the nuclear topic accessible for people. People need to know about this area and to be able to discuss it, debate it and come to informed decisions about it. I hope to provide this space to do exactly that for as many people as possible and am happy to answer as many questions as I can (using the help of the actual ‘experts’ of course…), and also develop and update the area for as wide an audience as I can.
